This extremely simple snack came about as a way to satisfy my chocolate craving in a more nutritious way. I have a HUGE sweet tooth so I am always looking for ways to satisfy cravings without going to the dark side. Once I discovered this ‘treat’ I was hooked. I crave it and so do my kids (minus the chocolate chips). Now I have to enjoy this treat when the kids are napping so I don’t have to fight them off!
- 1 cup of Vanilla Greek Yogurt (you can substitute regular vanilla yogurt but you will be losing out on a lot of protein found in the Greek yogurt)
- ¼ cup of granola (I get Kind Healthy Grains Raspberry Clusters with Chia Seeds because it tends to be lower in sugar than other granola I’ve seen at the store and it has chia seeds which are high in protein, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, etc.)
- 10-20 Dark chocolate chips (The higher the cocoa content typically the less sugar)
- Apple (any crispy apple that you enjoy, my favorites are Honey crisp and Gala apples)
Mix yogurt, granola, and dark chocolate chips well so they are completely blended together. Slice up the apple and dip the slices into the yogurt mix, trying to get at least 1 chocolaty surprise in each bite 🙂
